Perla Mallouk
I am currently a first-year PhD student at the MAP5 laboratory at Université Paris Cité, under the supervision of Fabien Crauste.
My research focuses on the spatial growth of neuroblastoma, one of the most common extracranial tumors in children. Its cause remains unknown to date, and it exhibits a very distinctive spatial organization: cancer stem cells tend to cluster at the center of the tumor.
Since 2026, I am a member of the SMB (Society for Mathematical Biology) and the EMS-TAG-MLS (EMS Topical Activity Group Mathematical Modeling in Life Sciences).
I am Lebanese 🇱🇧, I love pink 💖 and flowers 🌸, and I enjoy everything sweet 🍫!
I am also a dance competitor 💃🏻, and my goal is to run a half marathon in August 2026 🏃♀️.

Since 2026
Interventions in high schools in the Île-de-France region aimed at presenting our academic paths, answering students’ questions, and encouraging young women to pursue careers in scientific research, with a particular focus on mathematics.
Dates and locations
- Lycée Thibaut de Champagne, Provins, France: April 14, 2026.
Observing and identifying situations within the laboratory where gender equality is lacking or poorly addressed, proposing actions to promote equality, and communicating on this issue.
Co-organizer of the Young Women in Mathematics and Computer Science Meeting, a two-day event bringing together 20 high school students from across France. The program includes research workshops, speed meetings with women scientists, conferences, and a workshop on stereotypes, with the goal of encouraging participants to pursue studies and research in mathematics and computer science.
Participation as a speaker in a speed-meeting session with high school students to discuss academic paths in mathematics, answer questions, and encourage interest in scientific research careers.
Participated as a student in a mathematics research internship, attending meetings and conferences with women researchers, and engaging in discussions on gender stereotypes in mathematics.
